For a film director, Jade Carmen had an unorthodox start, as a professional musician (for 15 years). A twist of fate meant a change of career when he broke three fingers, and subsequently moved into the moving picture world. What followed was a highly successful, 11-year career behind the camera as a Camera Operator, Director Of Photography and Director. His credits extend across film and television, from “Ali G”, “The Making of Die Another Day”, "Borat," and “Dennis Pennis” to documentary films and long-form features for the Natural History, Discovery and Natural Geographic channels. Jade was pivotal in the early days of MTV filming Pink Floyd, Madonna, Prince, The Foo Fighters, The Stones , to name a few…
A keen scriptwriter, Jade has written and directed a number of award-winning short films, His first screenplay “Piggy Bank”, won the London Short Film Festival. “Piggy Bank” was also short–listed for the last four of the British Short Film Festival, while Jade subsequently received a prestigious Kodak Film scholarship. The short was repeatedly broadcast on Channel 4 and BBC2, starred Paul Kaye and Hamish Clark.
Jade’s next short “Mr Firecul” (starring David Ginola), which he wrote directed and co-produced, was premiered at the Odeon Covent Garden and was broadcast numerous times on BBC2 and Ch4.
Jade next movie was 'Moscow' starring Clive Standen (Rollo in Vikings) and Vivienne Harvey,) which premiered at the Logan Film Festival USA in 2016 and has been screened worldwide.
Jade has just written two further feature film screenplays, a tense, psychological drama 'Sleep In The Middle' and a thriller 'Losing It From Both Ends'
